East Coast Beach Adventures

If Saint Lucia's west coast beaches are known for sun, sea, sand and beautiful resorts, the island's north-eastern corner of Atlantic coastline offers quite another experience.

Getting to the beaten track takes only a short drive through Cap Estate to Cas En Bas Beach, and from there, coastal paths and clifftop trails lead northwards to Donkey Beach and southwards to Anse Lavoutte or 'Five Dollar Beach'.

Hikers and horse-riders love the wild and windy scenic views while wind and kite surfers fly the thermals of the Trade Winds almost every day of the year.

Grand Anse Beach is definitely a four-wheel-drive away from civilization and one of Saint Lucia's most breathtakingly natural locations. Sheer cliffs define the wide strip of golden sand that attracts leatherback and hawksbill turtles during the annual egg-laying season. Grand Anse is close to the picturesque village and lush farmlands of Des Barras.

Sandy Beach is also known as ‘Anse De Sables’and it is a mecca for kite-surfing and other wind- and watersports. Located just outside the southern town of Vieux Fort, busy bars and restaurants line the golden sands, along with a tangle of ancient seagrape trees providing shade to the weekend beach-goers.
